This is truly inspired writing. I was reading one of the stories and half way through I started to shake and breathe hard and by the time I was near the end I had to go outside in the yard for air before I could finish it. Jacqueline, did you know you wrote my story almost word for word? And not only that, the way you wrote it confirmed the power of the great Ones to care of us from life time to life time and also now in this life time. I was able to take a deeply painful and troubling situation from this lifetime and lay it to calm rest, peaceful in the knowing that all the things that happened are divinely timed and will come to their own sacred conclusions as life moves along through stages and episodes.
The book Exultation Erotic Tales of Divine Union is a sublime and charming effort dissolving the "division of the sexes." Moreover, the author, Sa, invites readers to reunite our spirituality with sexuality as opposed to the conventional view that sexuality should be sterilized from our spirituality.
To get the most out of this book, one may want to read it with the imaginative mind. While the reasoning mind may appreciate the provocative plots of these short stories, reading them with the imaginative mind one may start picking up subtle symbols, meanings, or messages (aside from the obvious ones that Sa spelled out). Intuitively, I've sensed a few esoteric meanings and spiritual phenomena hiding in these stories.
For example, ***Spoiler Alert*** in the story Song of the Mermaid, during the last spiritual sexual encounter with the mermaid, Justin's (the main character) feeling is described "as ecstatic as the King of Kings." Although the term King of Kings is a title being used by numerous monarchs, I suspected that, here, it is referring to Jesus. Esoteric books speak about Jesus' sexual relationship with Mary Magdalene. Through sexual rites, Mary prepared Jesus for his resurrection by building the strength of his Ka or light body. Perhaps in this particular part of the story, Sa is hinting that through a love union between the Divine Masculine and Feminine, one is able to transform the limited mortal state into the omnipresence of the Higher Self.

There are plenty of esoteric messages throughout the book similar to the example I provided above. But sometimes, instead of a message, I would just pick up a wave of warm and soothing energy from reading the book. I take this as a sign of a powerful spiritual book. Because of the subtle, sublime, and personal ways that this book has touched me, it has become an important tool in my healing journey.
Although these are stand-alone stories, I am fond of how Sa organized them so her message becomes increasingly apparent towards the end of the book. Furthermore, I really appreciate Sa's interpretations of the foreign and indigenous cultures that were mentioned. Not only is it fascinating to read about other cultures, the book has helped me to become even more sensitive and compassionate toward them.
Exultation has many outstanding and inspiring aspects. However, after finishing reading the entire book, I felt something was missing. Most of the characters in these stories are as enlightened as they come. Except Sabrina in the story, The Temple Dancer, there is not a whole lot of character growth and changes being elaborated and depicted. I find myself asking, "What were these characters like before they had become so enlightened? Did they go through pain and agony just like the rest of us? Did they have to confront their darkest shadow to learn and grow from the experience?"

Sa wrote about Damian, the main character in the last story, who has an ability to enter "a place where the soul dwells--to observe how people were at the mercy of their subconscious minds, no matter how diligently they had worked on themselves psychologically or spiritually to overcome nagging shadows and pains."

The above quote shows that Sa knows very well about the shadow aspects of the human psyche. Why not write more about them? Shadow contents will not diminish the sublimity in the book. On the contrary, adequate shadow contents will create a contrast in bringing out their enlightened qualities. This contrast will bring about character growth and changes and highlight their exultant states. Furthermore, shadow contents help readers to build a connection to these characters. Reading about how they struggle and triumph offers the readers a sense of faith and hope in their own transformation. I would very much like to read more about character growth from shadow to light in Sa's works, especially in male characters since men in our society are quite culturally conditioned to be emotionally cut off.
In conclusion, despite a few drawbacks, Exultation is an invigorating and enchanting spiritual book. I imagine anyone with an interest in esoteric spirituality would find it worthwhile, especially readers who are working on integrating sexuality with spirituality. Just read it with an imaginative mind, surrender to the texts, and they will take you on a mystical adventure into cosmic sexuality.
Jacqueline Sa tells stories that arouse us, both intellectually and emotionally. They speak directly, with a magically authentic voice, to our innermost longings and provide a sense of transcendence and a bridge between the imaginary world of fantasy eroticism, and the very real stirrings within our own bodies and souls.
They are easily read, but somehow, speak to a complexity that many of us may have forgotten in our technological world.
We are waiting with baited, well.....baited something, for her next effort.
I very much enjoyed the stories and the messages so meaningful for our times. Especially the healing of the wound between the male/female genders. All woven in a beautiful way with tastefully juicy passages in each chapter/story. Recommended for anyone.
